New school library

Reading is the most fundamental skill that students develop through their time in education. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest factor in success later in life, outside of an education. We aspire to ensure that all students in our care becoming a mature, independent readers. In recent years, we have sought to develop our approach to reading. All students in Key Stage 3 take part in Accelerated Reader; we provide intervention for students who need additional support with reading; and September 2021 will see the launch of our whole-school literacy strategy, which aims to put reading for pleasure at the heart of our school ethos. As part of this, we are delighted to announce that Woldgate School will be getting a new library! We want to create a vibrant space where students can read for pleasure, work independently, and come to relax when not in lessons. We are well on our way to making this vision a reality, but we need your help to truly bring this to life. The school has invested in a monthly book box from library and curriculum specialist, Peters, so that all students are able to access exciting, new, age-appropriate reading material. In addition to this, the local community has donated a range of fantastic books. We are truly grateful for the support we receive. We are now fundraising for additional materials for the school library. The money raised will be spent on: - New storage - New book displays - Soft seating - Reading tables and zones - Decorations and signage We will update you on exciting developments, and look forward to showing you what the new library looks like in September. Thank you for you donation; it will make a real difference to the academic life of our students.
