New Library

As we move into our new building, we would like to rapidly develop our library stock to support pupils' learning. The new library will be much larger than our current space and to make it an inviting and purposeful space we need to fill it with books! Reading is the most fundamental skill that students develop through their time in education. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest factor in success later in life, outside of an education. We aspire to ensure that all students in our care becoming mature, independent readers. In recent years, we have sought to develop our approach to reading. All students in Key Stage 3 take part in Accelerated Reader; we provide intervention for students who need additional support with reading; in September 2021 we launched our whole-school literacy strategy, which aims to put reading for pleasure at the heart of our school ethos. We are well on our way to making this vision a reality, but we need your help to truly bring this to life. The school has invested in a monthly book box from library and curriculum specialist, Peters, so that all students are able to access exciting, new, age-appropriate reading material. In addition to this, the local community has donated a range of fantastic books. We are truly grateful for the support we receive. We are now fundraising for additional materials for the school library. The money raised will be spent on: - New up-to-date non-fiction resources to support all curriculum areas - New fiction titles (recent releases, competition nominees, and pupil recommendations) We will update you on exciting developments and look forward to showing you what the new library looks like. Thank you for your donation; it will make a real difference to the academic life of our students.
